Here is an interesting method of looking at ‘the journey of the soul’ with the Major Arcana.

Observe the following correspondences in the cards:
- The lemniscates in the Magician and Strength cards.
- The position of the hands in the Magician, Justice and Devil cards.
- The characters from the Lovers card are present in the Devil card.
- The position of the legs of the Hanged Man and the World dancer. (Make the Hanged Man card reversed and compare.)
The Major Arcana is the simultaneous and continuous journey of the soul.
We can see the journey as a continuous flow, beginning with card 0 and ending with card 21.
Alternatively, we can see the simultaneous growth of the character in the Fool card on all the three planes of existence – Practical, Mental and Spiritual. For example, while he is the Magician on the Practical Plane, he is going through the Strength card on a Mental Plane and the Devil card on the Spiritual Plane.

This is a powerful tool, not only in the occult world, but increasingly in the psychology arena. When the readings are specific to the “here and now” the supplicant is able to unravel current domestic problems. The Adept is able to coax the individual in the direction of healthy decisions. Separation into Physical, Mental and Spiritual planes is the same technique used by behavioral psychology. Throw in a couple of Venn Diagrams and the technique is validated in its own right.
So true!
