Your Tarot deck is something precious – maybe not in monetary terms, but on a deeper, spiritual level, it is.
The cards are your companions and guides. Take care of them. Don’t leave them lying about where your pets or kids could get into them and spoil them.
Keep them away from water and fire – this can irreversibly damage your cards!
Store them in a clean and safe place. If you have an altar or a sacred / holy space in your home, then you can store your deck over there.
You can wrap the deck in a cloth (some say silk cloth, but its up to you, really) or store it in one of the bags available for the purpose. You can also store the cards in the box that they came in. Or you can buy a fancy wooden box and store your cards in them.
You can use a cloth to do all your readings on, if you do readings while sitting down on the floor. Or if you are using a table for readings, then make sure the table is clean or it may spoil the cards.
You may also put crystals or charms or herbs in the box or bag while storing the cards. This helps in balancing the energy of the cards.
The whole point of the “you may”s and “you can”s is that you should do what makes you feel good while storing the cards. Listen to what your inner self or heart is telling you to do. And just do it.

Beautiful site! Thanks so much for all the wonderful info you provide to us tarot lovers. As for great ways to store your cards, you should check out http://www.tarottotes.com. They’ve got the most beautiful tarot bags and padded case – and hundreds of styles so you can pick one that matches your tarot cards perfectly. They also have tarot spread cloths that match the bags. They’re one of my favorite sites.
Thanks again and brightest blessings!
